The theme for CSBA’s Legislative Agenda is Governance First and there’s no better way to demonstrate the importance of local school governance than to participate in Board Member Action Day on May 10. That day, school board members statewide will head to their Assembly Member’s and Senator’s local district offices to advocate on behalf of California’s schools and students. To make this event a success and have the greatest impact on the state elected officials who represent you in the Legislature, register today.
“As a local governance leader, you represent the best interests of your students and the community you serve. Board Member Action Day is your opportunity to demonstrate the importance of Governance First, by sharing your concerns and needs with the lawmakers who represent your district/County Office of Education in Sacramento,” explained Cindy Marks, CSBA president.
“When members of your local governance team and other board members from your region meet face-to-face with your state representatives – we have collective impact! The local legislative meetings that will take place on May 10 through CSBA have more impact than sending letters or emails on key pieces of legislation,” she added.
The registration process takes less than five minutes, and CSBA’s seasoned Governmental Relations team will handle all the logistics – from setting up the meetings to preparing you with all the information you’ll need to effectively convey the importance of Governance First. Moreover, a free one-hour webcast, scheduled for Friday, May 3, will equip you with the information you need to conduct effective legislator meetings. If you can’t view the webcast live that day, it will be archived and available at csba.org by Monday, May 6.
