Membership shows strength in numbers

by Susan Swigart, Sr. Director, Member Relations

953. That’s the impressive number of current CSBA member school districts, county offices of education and regional occupational centers/programs. While we’re heartened that so many local educational agencies supported CSBA in 2012-13, we’re not resting on our laurels. We continue to enhance our array of high-quality resources, services and support to local school governance teams.

CSBA exists for and because of its members. Members rely on us to advocate for them, coordinate their advocacy, provide governance training, inform them and support them in ways that no other educational organization can match. At the same time, CSBA relies on members’ continued dues support and participation.

The school year may be coming to a close for most, but with the mailing last month of 2013-14 dues invoices, the new CSBA membership year has officially begun. Nearly 50 districts, COEs and ROC/Ps have already paid their dues. We’re encouraging others to approve membership and forward dues payment as soon as possible.

Renewing CSBA membership symbolizes a local school governing board’s commitment to and investment in supporting the organization that helps strengthen school governance and increase student achievement and success. CSBA shares the commitment and appreciates the investment made by our 953 members.
