Upcoming AEC deadlines

CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show (AEC) is the premier event for board members and other education leaders to connect and further their governance skills in California. New and veteran trustees, superintendents, school business officials and board support professionals will come away from this conference with practical ideas and strategies to better support board governance and student outcomes.

The San Diego Convention Center will host AEC General Sessions, workshops, the Trade Show Floor, pre-conference activities and more from Dec. 3–5, while the Marriott Marquis will host the Delegate Assembly, Golden Bell Awards and meal functions unless otherwise noted.

Important dates

Registration and housing for AEC opens June 9. Register here between June 9 and Aug. 11 to lock in the early rate! Registration will be available at the regular price between Aug. 12 and Nov. 9, but attendees can also register on-site.

CSBA has negotiated rates at several hotels near the convention center, which can be viewed here, alongside other relevant information.

Local educational agency governance teams have already submitted their proposals showcasing innovative and successful programs and ideas implemented by districts and county offices of education that correspond to one of the major strands identified for this year’s conference, including:

  • Empowering All Students and LEAs in a Digital World
  • Fostering Strong Community Partnerships
  • Health Safety and Wellness
  • Pathways to College Career and Beyond
  • Strategic Governance for Organizational Success
  • Strategies for Financial Resilience
Shine a spotlight on talented students

CSBA is looking for student performers to take the stage during General Sessions on Thursday, Dec. 3, or Friday, Dec. 4, for performances that will run approximately 8 to 10 minutes. AEC’s General Sessions create a meaningful platform to celebrate student success in the arts and showcase the state’s talent. Groups of all performance styles and traditions are encouraged to apply now through June 24. Golden Awards

CSBA believes in recognizing the extraordinary work of school districts and COEs across California. • Golden Bell Awards recognize outstanding programs and governance practices of school boards
  • Golden Gavel Awards recognize individual school board members and governance teams who exemplify best practices in effective governance and boardsmanship
  • Golden Quill Awards celebrate the important role education journalists play in creating awareness in the community

The deadline to submit for the Golden Awards is Friday, June 26, at midnight.
